MMS for the Iphone

It's here! It's finally arrived! It's been three years since the release of the iPhone and yet until this day we still have not been able to send a simple picture message. MMS or Multimedia Messaging Service was launched for smart phones in 2002 and it took six years for the "smartest" of all the smart phones to hop on board? A little late in the game I think. However, now that this new technology is available to the ever growing number of iPhone users, what can we do with it? As users, we can now send inappropriate photos to one another. But as social media marketers, it opens up an entirely new audience that until this morning were not susceptible to our picture messaging marketing tactics. So I ask this question, what do we do with this new tool available to us? Text messaging for businesses is relatively inexpensive and allows a marketer to reach a highly targeted audience. Instant coupons, info about in store promotions can easily be sent though a simple text message. Texts provide a simple quick way to reach potential consumers all over the world. However, the cell phone is the last bit of technology that hasn't yet been taken over by advertising. Mail, E-mail, home phones and now text messaging? Consumers may feel a bit bombarded, text with caution...

Here are two other consumers..some happy, others not so thrilled.
